KNOWING IF YOUR RABBIT IS PREGNANT OR NOT
sometimes we cross our rabbit and hope they are pregnant but come the date they are supposed to deliver it nothing which means 30 days Has been wasted and it can be quite painful and spoil our breeding plans.
SO HOW DO YOU KNOW YOUR RABBIT IS PREGNANT or how do you confrim if your rabbit is pregnant.
We use a method called palpation.
Palpating is using your fingers to feel the stomach of the doe to confrim if it pregnant or not.
It takes experience to be able to do this. If you are inexperienced you may not feel anything. But with time you will get used to it.
Palpating should be done at 12 to 14 day after crossing.
If done too early you won’t feel anything and if done after the 14th day you may injury the baby inside.
HOW IS IT DONE
Put the rabbit on a flat surface and place your finger in between the back leg or but side of the stomach ( check age for visual guide)
At frist make sure you can feel your fingers touching each other then run your fingers backwards gently
*NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT PRESS IT TOO HARD And SHOULD BE DONE GENTLY.
if you feel hard round substance inside then it pregnant.
Though this is not a 100% sure method as sometimes you may may not feel anything but it actually pregnant but it will guide you most times.
