Importance and Uses of Poultry Droppings (Feces)

Obviously many people dont know the importance of poultry Manure or should i say poultry droppings.
Well, we would discuss in length the importance and uses of poultry Manure .
Its planting Season, and most people want to fertilize their land before planting or put the maure at some centimetre away from the crop .
Of all the Animals, why poultry Manure?
Why not use Cow droppings or Feces?
To answer the big question? How many of Us are rearing cow?
In this country Nigeria, only the Hausa people are rearing Cow.
This is because Cow is a long term investment.
Secondly, it requires a lot of space compare to poultry farming.
Thirdly, the feces is bulky compare to poultry droppings.
Lastly, Cow droppings and Feces is not as nutritious as Poultry droppings.

Poultry Manure is less expensive than buying fertilizers from agro stores,
Poultry Manure is Organic, its naturally and not synthetic or made in a Lab.
Poultry manure is rich organic manure since solid and liquid excreta are excreted together resulting in no urine loss.
There are different types of poultry manure such as deep litter manure, broiler manure, cage manure and high rise manure.
Nutrient values of poultry manure vary considerably depending upon the conditions under which it is processed.
The ratio of litter to manure and the moisture content causes considerable variation among manures from different houses.
Poultry manure contains about 3-5% nitrogen, 1.5-3.5% phosphorous and 1.5-3.0% potassium and micro-nutrients at considerable amount.
Characteristics of poultry manure:
Poultry manure contains all the essential plant nutrients that are used by plants. These include nitrogen (N), phosphorous (P), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), sulphur (S), manganese (Mn), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), chlorine (Cl), boron (B), iron (Fe) and molybdenum (Mo).
The amounts of these nutrients can vary depending upon many factors including the age and diet of the flock, as well as the moisture content and age of the manure.
Uses of Poultry Manure
Land application to crops as manure
Activator for button mushroom production
Generation of energy (bio gas, electricity)
feed for fish and feedstuff for livestock.
But, land application of poultry manure for crops has been the traditionally and still the most important use.
