CBN Promises Continuous Support To Farmers in Ondo

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has pledged to continuously support farmers in the state of Ondo for agricultural growth with a view to eradicating poverty through creating jobs as part of its commitment to the development of agriculture.

During the award ceremony for the Board of Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme Fund’s best farmers and microfinance bank in the state, CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele made this commitment.

The best microfinance bank, state’s top three farmers, and best microfinance bank were all recognized during the award presentation.
The top bank head, who was represented by the CBN Akure Branch Controller, Alhaji Fatai Yusuf, noted that the award was a reflection of words supported by actions, accountability, and the realization of the commitment made to enhance agriculture in Nigeria.

Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the state’s governor, highlighted that the collaboration between the CBN and the State Government has aided in the development of contemporary farm settlements in the state.

The governor announced that more than 100 hectares of land had been set aside for the production of crops including cocoa and palm trees, as well as plans to empower hundreds of direct and indirect employees, who were represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Agriculture, Akin Olotu.

Meanwhile, Mr. Idowu Ogunsoyin bagged the best farmer award, Mr. Femi Eniola clinched the runner up award and Mrs Mulikat Akinujoye came third, also Lapo microfinance bank won the best agriculture-friendly bank of the year award.
